Jon and Kate plus 8: 9/29 episode

I watched Jon and Kate plus 8 last night. They were answering frequently asked questions on this episode. I found this episode to be okay. Many people thought it was an attempt at damage control due to the National Enquirer’s articles about the family and all the free trips and employees that they really have behind the scenes.

I think that admitting that they get trips from resorts gratis was a step in the wrong direction for the show because it makes their show less attractive to families that are struggling financially. I mean who wants to see a man and woman who don’t have a job constantly receiving free trips and products on TV?

I laughed when they were asked when the cameras were going to be off and they said oh we can, good bye! Jon and Kate Gosselin don’t want their fifteen minutes of fame to end because then they wouldn’t be  making the type of money that they are now.

This episode was okay but this show which appealed to me during season one is slowly becoming a show that I am slowly backing away from due to the constant product placement. What does everyone else think?

The Duggars: 17 Kids and Counting Series Premiere

I loved watching this show last night. The first two episodes involved the Duggar family and their children heading to NYC to appear on the morning talk show the Today Show. It was interesting to watch the large family walk around the streets of NYC. The family even rode in taxi cabs. One interesting things was the Duggars giving out pictures of their family to people that they didn’t know but I guess since they are on TV that it is okay.

The series really allowed Michelle to be a central part of the first two episodes which were filmed around Mother’s Day. Michelle announced she was pregnant on the Today Show and even was involved in a duck master ceremony after they had returned to Arkansas.

The family is very polite; some of the kids are rambunctious but that is to be expected. I think the family came off as very real. I enjoyed this reality show a lot. I look forward to watching it next week. The Duggars: 17 Kids and Counting will be on TLC next Monday after Jon and Kate plus 8.

The Duggars announce the Gender of their Unborn Baby

Today, on the Today Show, the Duggars announced that baby eighteen is a girl. That will make ten boys and eight girls for the Duggars. Their newest arrival arrives around New Years Day 2009. I cannot imagine giving birth that many times. I had one c-section and I thought that I was going to die. I was in pain for months after my surgery. What J name do you think they will choose? I would choose Juliet because it sounds good next to the last name Duggar. What J names would you suggest?

The Duggars 17 Kids and Counting

I was surprised to see a commercial this morning advertising the Duggars 17 Kids premiering tonight on TLC after Jon and Kate plus 8. All of the press releases had said the show was to premiere on October 1, 2008 on the Discovery Health Channel.

The reality show will follow the Duggars as they go through daily life with their growing family. I am excited to see this show because for some reason the Duggars intrigue me. I only have one child but I love watching television shows about large families. I guess we all want to feel like if Michelle can handle seventeen children then handling one child should be a breeze. I will blog about this show after I watch it this evening. Is anyone else excited to see this show tonight?

NBCU Wins Injunction Involving Project Runway

“New York State Supreme Court Judge Richard Lowe has granted NBC Universal a preliminary injunction that bars the Weinstein Co. from moving Project Runway from Bravo, owned by NBCU, to Lifetime next January.

The Weinstein Co. earlier this year struck a deal to move the show to Lifetime beginning with its sixth season. Originally, Lifetime had planned on debuting the show in November, but then moved the premiere to January 2009.

Shortly after Weinstein Co. confirmed its deal with Lifetime, NBCU sued, claiming that it had a right of first refusal to match any offer the producer received for the program. The network claimed Weinstein Co. was in breach of contract because it did not honor that first refusal agreement.

Sources familiar with the situation said that barring a possible settlement between the parties, it would appear that the soonest the show would move — if at all — would be after the case is fully tried.

In a statement, NBCU said it was “pleased that the court granted our motion for a preliminary injunction against the Weinstein Co. The overwhelming evidence demonstrated that the Weinstein Co. violated NBCU’s right of first refusal to future cycles of Project Runway. After hearing all of the evidence, the court issued an order prohibiting the Weinstein Co. from taking the show or any spin-off to Lifetime.”

The Weinstein Co. late Friday issued this statement: “We are glad that the court held that NBCU cannot exhibit the program on Bravo and that court required NBCU to post a minimum $20 million bond. Obviously we will be appealing and remain committed to our partners.”

Lifetime said it would continue to press its case: “We are disappointed with the court’s decision to grant the preliminary injunction against the Weinstein Co. It’s unfortunate that the people hurt most by this ongoing dispute are the loyal fans of Project Runway. In the meantime, Lifetime will pursue all measures to uphold its valid and binding agreement reached with the Weinstein Co. for season six of Project Runway.”

The ruling comes two months after Judge Lowe convened a hearing on the issue. At that hearing, Jeff Zucker, president and CEO of NBCU, and Harvey Weinstein, co-chairman of the Weinstein Co., offered colorful and conflicting testimony on the matter.”

This ruling delays the start of the next season of Project Runway. If the two parties do not come to an agreement then the Project Runway season six may be delayed beyond January 2009. I love the show Project Runway. It has drama but at the same time involves very creative designers, creating unique fashion pieces. Tim Gunn charms everyone and mentors the designers in a subtle but informative way. Hopefully, season six of Project Runway will go on as scheduled because it is a great reality TV show. What does everyone think? Will there be a season six of Project Runway or will delaying the start of the show make its appeal to reality TV viewers’ decrease?

Should there be rules for Reality Tv?

Should there be rules regarding reality television? Children are now being filmed for reality shows. Denise Richards featured her two young daughters, The Osbournes featured their kids, the Hogans did and now the Duggars will debut their reality show that is similar to Jon and Kate plus 8. All of these reality shows featured children under the age of 18.

There are child actor laws but children who are on reality TV shows are not protected by these laws. Shouldn’t there be a law protecting children who are featured on reality TV shows? I mean children are being featured so they are making money for the networks that are airing their family’s reality TV shows. In essence, they are employees and shouldn’t they be protected by some sort of labor law? What does everyone think?

Paris Hilton’s:My New BFF

Paris Hilton’s: My New BFF

This show is a new reality show on MTV on Tuesday nights. Paris Hilton who is a name everyone knows is supposedly searching for a new BFF. BFF stands for best friend forever. I put this show in the same category as Flavor of Love, and Rock of Love because I highly doubt we will see Parish being photographed around town with the winner. Did you ever see Flavor Flav out and about with the winners of his shows? The answer is no. I have no idea what this show will be like since I haven’t seen it. I will blog about this reality show as soon as I see this new reality show.

Kathy Griffin Files Lawsuit

“The Emmy-winning, Grammy-seeking funny lady has filed a cyber squatting lawsuit against the owners of KathyGriffin.com, alleging the site makes unauthorized use of her name and image.

The lawsuit was filed Sept. 16 in Los Angeles Superior Court and seeks at least $100,000 in statutory damages under the Anti-Cyber squatting Act and for misappropriating her right of publicity, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The harm to [Griffin] is direct and palpable,” the lawsuit reads, adding the site was purposely designed to make viewers “confused into believing that [Griffin] authorizes, sponsors or somehow is affiliated with the…website.”

The suit, filed by star attorney extraordinaire Marty Singer, states that the owners of the site, which was registered to Trafficz.com via a privacy-protection agency, have been trading on the reality star’s “good reputation and recognizable name for a commercial purpose…and reaping the uncompensated benefit from the unauthorized use of [Griffin’s] name and identity.”

The operators had offered to sell the domain name to Griffin back in July for a cool $3,500. The site, which previously contained solely commercial content and click-through advertising, has since been considerably stripped down, consisting now of just two lines. Are you looking for Kathy’s official website? It’s located at kathygriffin.net,” it reads.

But the update hasn’t seemed to appease Team Kathy, which has otherwise been enjoying a banner year.”

Kathy Griffin in my opinion has every right to file this lawsuit because being associated with the site not only hurts her reputation but it also hurts her fans. People should be cautious of any web site claiming to be associated with a celebrity, check and see if there is proof of authenticity before thinking any web site is associated with your favorite celebrity.
